Alexander Peterson, Ph.D.
Skipps Research Institute
Dr. Peterson is a chemical biologist with a passion for small molecule discovery and development through selection-mediated platforms. He accumulated experience as an organic chemist as part of Professor Ron Raines group at UW-Madison, where he received B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry. He completed his Ph.D. at Harvard University, working in the lab of Professor David Liu at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. During this time, he used DNA-Encoded Libraries to discover, develop, and characterize the first subtype selective cyclophilin inhibitors. Currently in the lab of Professor Ahmed Badran at Scripps Research Institute, Dr. Peterson is developing selection and genetic code expansion technologies for the purpose of small molecule discovery.
